Meet the Lesson Horses used at River Run Stables!

Scooter

Scooter is a grey Morgan/Arab cross gelding. He is a great horse for beginners to learn on because he is quiet, safe, and willing. Scooter also has a lot to teach my more advanced students.

Hoddy

Hoddy is the newest addition to the lesson horse program. He is such a sweet boy and will make a great teacher both beginner and intermediate children and adults.

Hoddy is owned by Ashley Harr.

Olive

Olive is a big sweet girl who is a great teacher for adults and teens just beginning to ride. She is slow and steady, and wouldn't hurt a flea.

Olive is owned by Amie Trautwein.

Rio

Rio is a black Pony/Quarter horse cross. He is the veteran at River Run Stables. He is the most reliable and easiest horse to learn to ride on. Many young riders have gotten their start on Rio. Rio is also excellent mount for those riders who are looking to better their skills. He knows quite a bit and is a great teacher.

Rio is owned by the Fedor family.

Blackie

Blackie is the perfect little pony for young riders. He is small, cute, and obedient. He was once used to give trail rides at a local trail riding stable. He is a good mount for small riders who want to walk and are learning to trot. He has a slow, almost bounce free trot.

Blackie is owned by the Millington family.

Emily

Emily is Blackie's best friend. Like Blackie she is also a pony. She is a great horse for youg riders who are just learning to ride. Because she was used at a trail riding stable, her favorite thing to do is follow Blackie's tail!

Hurricane & Steel

Hurricane and Steel are winter guests at River Run Stables while their family is in Florida. At their own home they are teaching two young girls how to ride and improve their skills. Their owners want them to continue helping people learn to ride while they are guests at River Run Stables. Hurricane likes to go. He walks, trots, and canters well with a rider on his back. He has a very smooth trot. Steel is a bit more easy going than Hurricane. He can also walk, trot, and canter under saddle, but his trot is quite bouncy. Both of these horses are available for full/partial lease for the winter. Take advantage of our new indoor!

Kai

Kai was rescued by his current owner as a 2 year old from a bad situation. He has since grown up, undergone training under saddle with Ashley Harr, trail ridden with his owner, and is beginning to give lessons to intemediate to advanced students. Kai is a pretty laid back horse who really enjoys trail riding. He has a nice walk and a different sort of trot. It is not really bouncy and is therefore difficult to post to. It feels more like a pace. Kai is a good mount for the rider who is ready to learn how to help develop a horse and get a horse to become more skillled.

Horatio

Horatio is a 6 year old Belgian x QH. He is such a charismatic horse full of personality. He is great on trail rides and is good in the ring as long as the rider keeps things interesting for him! Horatio has undergone training with Ashley and now gives lessons to intermediate and advanced riders.
